Passages Song Contest

I have taken many passages on this journey called life, They have lead me to gardens infected with pain hurt and strife, I have walked down roads of roses paved with bitter thorns, All to find out those temporary releases leave so many torn. What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his infinite soul, What is the point of owning everything when in the end our hearts are not whole, Why do we work so hard for material gain yet neglect whose up above, Many are superficial flowers, blowing in the wind, knowing nothing of true love. I have run down dirt roads at night in the pouring rain, Thinking this void would be complete if I could just whisper your sweet name, I have cut through channels and canals just to get to your old home, In all my efforts I have found myself left rejected and alone. Now I see before my very eyes the path that is actually straight, The only one that leads me to eternal golden gates, For the time I’ve wasted chasing dreams and idols in despair, Left me with a burden that no one in this world could bare. So I’ll lose the world to gain my soul, And have my heart completely whole, While opening my eyes to whats above, embracing all his unconditional love, And I'll smile when I see those gates, The sweetest treasure I'll anticipate, Since all we are is passing through, I'll keep passing on until I reach what is true.
