Partnered Flight

Constrained to but a scant few scribbled lines, the poet undertakes a daunting task, and yet within his delicate confines, infinity lies there if he but asks. For who can place a limit on his mind or cordon off the paths where he might tread? Imagining leaves the banal behind, finds joy in the uncharted up ahead. In soaring to the heights or crashing low, engaging not in solitary flight, he must be cognizant of where they go, companions in a fancied, shared delight. The writer paints in concert with his muse; the readers each refine in varied hues. ---------- for the 2022 Poetry Marathon Mile 24 Poetry Contest sponsored by Mark Toney written on 12/20/2022
