Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow
One day my child, I shall not see your face,
Nor hold you in my arms on this fair earth.
My voice, once filled with song, will leave no trace
And all I owned will be of no real worth.
Yet still the stars in clear night skies will shine,
The rose in bloom give forth its pure, sweet scent,
Warm sun shall swell the fruit tree and the vine,
The pulse of life beat on though mine be spent.
And though at first deep grief will fill your heart
To lose the bond of love which we have known,
I pray, your life in which I shared a part
Will reap the seeds of joy which we have sown.
Through faith in God our lives will touch once more
When by His grace you cross the sun kissed shore.
