Parrot Ting Reflection From a Barry University Graduate

There has been much about being on a stage
Since I started dealing with that adult style wage
The Orange one used to welcome the new year
With an evening date filled with cheer

Now it says goodbye
With a match worthy of a sigh
Northerners will descend on the Hard Rocks
To continue a tradition started with a stadium built in a residential area with many blocks

This edition will include a team having the letters VA
And the Gators going south for a stay
It should be a Monday night fight
That starts the pre party hype

This spectacle used to have the reputation of a lighted half time show
That had a festive glow
Now the rest break has an information take
When suits debate behind the desk
Trying to use their best journalistic guess

It is believed that the changes came
When some needed to declare a true official National Champion for their game
Now all the schools have a rank with the top ones taking their success to the bank
Tradition was shown the door as one network thought in favor of a ratings score

But the first change I remember was when the French Quarter seduced the reporters
Saying nouvel An Night needed another gridiron fight
And they moved the Sugar and spice to the next day which seemed quite nice
This did divide the press
And created a remote-control mess
Many generations passed using voting judging cast to see who was on top in the end
And this academic decision made a point giving the notation National Champion to the team who had a responsibility to defend

Now they choose four to have a chance to play one extra game more
Under the big lights the teams will show their might
But is this all right?
Or should the student warrior be giving the time off
to prepare by reading the second semester books they bought

Keep in mind one network boasts all these holiday tailgating toasts
All I can tell you is look around
And enjoy the sights and sounds
All the bowls have a reason
To have a positive end to an athletic season

When February turns to March
And the sophomoric quarterback during the Spring practice feels parch
The water will be there due to one of his classmates doing the job since they care

It will be the senior who will wonder
Was that National Championship just a blunder?
Or was it something special for one day to be a king
And get this ring that will go along with the graduation thing.
