Parent's Inheritance
All dressed up with her hair in ponies
the purse with the funny bird on her shoulder
White tights and red flower shoes on her feet
all ready to go to the ball.
Went in her room for just fifteen minutes
and came out with permanent, black marker whiskers
"Now I'm a cat!!", she said as she snickered
and let out a belt of a meow.
Decided to be a gardener supreme
with fingers all covered in the richest of soil
She brings me arrays of colorful flowers
picked out just for me with love.
For each of these simple, remarkable gifts
I'd circle the world in search of
I laugh and I giggle and roll on the floor
with my dearest inheritance, my child.
