Parallax Truths

You heed what’s preached, I observe beyond the pale We play cat and mouse, searching out our holy grails I see blackness and stars, with no end in sight You discern an inner sanctum, and eternal light Each of us ponder hard, unwavering in finding truth Yours a god of creation, mine the square of all roots We both seek similar answers, the meaning of life Can either of us be nearer, in a world full of strife What matters in the end, is tolerance of opposing views If one line of vision’s blocked, then everyone shall lose By David Kavanagh

Indeed to a certain extent we should always be tolerant of others beliefs, extremism is a different story and must be confronted, we all know it’s consequences, cheers David

Hello David ... 'tolerance of opposing views' is a great statement. It's a pity that this desperate need is disappearing towards another catastrophic war - thank you David - Lindsay

Thank you Lindsay, Hopefully this threat of war is just posturing and flexing muscles, if we cannot sort out this current situation peacefully, there really isn’t much hope looking to the future, but philosophically speaking war always seemed to be just seething below the surface, at any time in history, cheers David

....nice write....the logic inherent to the passage of time is the reality mythologies seek for relative clues as to life....fine..... but life is a manifestation of time...a manifestation times inherent logic as/in the being of a mind.....moral reality is one thing but a logic of time as our ongoing reality is another......stans sand

Thanks Stan, I suppose the old adage about time being relative to the observer is morally true, but I prefer Einsteins abstract quote about time being a stubborn persistent illusion, I think I understand what he meant, but dammit doesn’t feel like an illusion as you wisely point out, cheers David

Hey David….I really enjoyed this meaningful poem. We all have different views and beliefs in life and who knows what happens at the end until the end! Debx

Thank you Deb, so many of us believe what we feel is true, but it’s certainly not one size fits all, unless it’s recognised by all as undisputed fact, the end is the imponderable, as we can only see from life’s points of view, cheers David

wise words indeed David, I am not a religious person either but religion can cause so many issues - so many wars and so many un necessary deaths - why can we accept other's views and live in peace:-( hugs Jan xx

Heya Jan I’d probably need to write an epic to express my thoughts on your question, but I’d definitely start with atavistic traits, and ancient fear of others beliefs, and probably still not get to the root of the problem, maybe someday we’ll all see the same light whatever it is, cheers David

So true, David. I would encourage all to seek the meaning of life and where we came from. Truth will always be Truth, whichever method one chooses to pursue and find it. I think many times that we each have our own understanding of our truth, which is our interpretation of the Truth. We can only share with others what we know as true. Each has to accept what they choose to believe is true. Hate is not an option for me, but it seems in today's world, it dominates man's feelings. Bill

Wise words Bill, you totally understand the parallax view I’m looking through, reason itself should dictate hate is not an option, but for some reason bad information and bad influence can seed it within mere mortals, I’m not convinced hate is a demonic phenomenon, although some people are beyond doubt obsessed, but it seems driven by power greed and resentment and won’t hesitate to kill for it, cheers David

The fact that we hurt so much at lost love…we grieve and don’t just forget…eternity exists. I know what I believe is true but yes, we must respect and not hate people with opposing views. I always say search for the truth. Are we honest with ourselves about wanting to know it or just choosing a favorite dessert from a menu. Love your title…sometimes titles can be hard to come up with!

Thank you Kim the title came as an afterthought, just literally popped into my mind, I’m certain about wanting to know the truth, and I push boundaries searching, I genuinely believe in science, but am not convinced it explains the whole meaning of life, no more than any religion, but hey it’s only the opinion of a person on a journey, cheers David

There will always be opposing views regarding creation and life itself, it is often said science and religion go hand in hand and that you can't have one without the other. Hope your weekend is going well David. Tom

Thank you Tom, that was my idea of the parallax view, as seen from both sides of the equation, I believe the true answer lies somewhere down the middle, I’m certainly not a religious person, nor do I put all my faith in science, it’s the bigotry and arrogance of extremists on both sides I cannot stand, quiet weekend Tom, so won’t complain, enjoy the new week, cheers David
