Parade

Fantasy 2-22-24 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Parade At midnight dawn my mind escapes parting the stars Making my way to a summerland torchlight parade Where grand marshals of zebra fish Lead the festival from fiery snow drifts of spun clouds Making way for tunes and flourishes of the flugel zoots Dressed in braided gold, sounds of silver reeds giggling om-pahs, Followed by perfect lines of elephins holding hot air hippos Rows and rows of dolphettes ride on one horned steads As whirling woodles swish their skirts to drumline mango tangos From silver floats rosemaids royal wave to gaping galaxies As crickethoppers dance the wooly wozzle by the Doodle Loos! And porpi pass in waves of burnished summersaults Comet twirlers shout “Hooray!” and clap their stony hands, Snarfish teeter on the invisible between starstruck novas Then tap dance in steps of dipsy doodles for eleven moons Red giants snoozle riding quadra pogo stickes And throw tickertape confetti – sounding the curly noodles curfew – Remembering how to hold the magic as this homecoming parade ends Tap dancing into the horizon's shadow as this long day’s night passes by - And masquerades of new moons wane in tipsy oodles!

I can envisage your fantastical voyage being made into an animated film in similar vein to that of The Beatles’ “Yellow Submarine” - with you reciting it Sam. :) I’d pay for a cinema ticket, buy the dvd and stream it. Great work! Cheers - Gary

Hi Gary! What a great idea! That would be a fun project. I think children, of every age, would have fun listening, watching and then drawing the characters! I love that you picked up the Beatles' reference. I am so honored by your feedback. Had a wonderful time creating this whimsical parade! Thank you so much for your feedback as delightful as the parade itself! Sending you all the best. Blessings and cheers!

Wow! Im speechless dear samszy! I just love the way you took me on a journey, maybe one where i am surfing or snorkeling through seas… so creative you are! My oceanic heart danced along to the metaphors and fantasy that youve painted in such eloquence, i especially love the opening lines! The imagery is so very descriptively moving’ as well as “ Comet twirlers shout “Hooray!” and clap their stoney hands, Snarfish teeter on the invisible between starstruck novas” i wish i can quote them all! Fav!

Hi Inky! Thank you so much for joining in the fun and whimsy of the voyage into the fantastic and mythical! I had a ball thinking about each creature, the music, each group in the parade from the grand marshals, to the "snarfish" to the "giggling flutes!" Writing this reminded me of my childhood games created with friends! It really was a joyful experience and I am so glad that you shared in this magic! So honored by your fav. Thank you! Sending you blessing of the marvelous and miraculous for each day!! Samszy! Parade coordinator!

From zebra fish marshals to giggling flutes and dolphettes on unicorns, the poem sparks pure joy and imagination. Thank you so much, Tom! Wasn't sure what to do with this theme as there were so many wonderful options for creating a fantasy world. Really had fun with the "dispy doodles," and "snoozles on pogo sticks." Thanks for sharing this bit of whimsy with me! Hope all is well. Over Fork Over!

Hi Sara! Thank you! This contest theme of "fantasy" was just oodles of fun! With all of the serious poems of late, I had forgotten how much fun it is to create a fanciful world - to be a kid again making up stories and imaginary worlds! Thanks for being a kid with me. I loved the company! Blessings!
