Paper Rain

paper rain like a confetti parade
falling all around, littering the ground
you think you see clearly
in the eye of this storm
there are things that you can't see
and one of them is me

thunder crashes, shaking your calm
deafening in your ears, so you can not hear
the sound of your own voice
this storm that rages on
there are things that you can't hear
and one of them is me

a lightning flash that starts your fire
burning in your soul, spirit sprayed with holes
as the ash settles to your feet
you will never admit defeat
as you leave the past behind
I guess that includes me
