Earth once housed many spirits
so the Gods worked out a plan.
They would trap them in a box
where they couldn't torment Man.
The box was placed with a boy
who's told not to open it.
And not knowing what it held
didn’t bother him a bit.
A girl's chosen for his wife
her beauty being unmatched.
But when she’s told of the box
a plot was secretly hatched.
Pandora betrayed the Gods
her curiosity won.
For she thought one peek can't hurt
she'll close it soon as she's done.
But when the lid was opened
pain and disease where set free.
And before she could close it
they had spread from sea to sea.
In the bottom of the box
hope was the last spirit freed.
And its release allowed Man
to gain comfort from her deed.
