Palace visit

A pretty big gate it was... Overseeing the strict soldiers at the entrance. Firmly, they stood with heavy weapons. Stepped inside the picturesque place, Gentle girls welcomed with grace. A beautiful big lawn, Guarded by patient pawns, Ample aesthetic rooms around, Occupied by pretty people abound. Classical songs were playing on one side, Dancers accompanied them the other side. People indulged in their adorable arts, Celebrating them with happy hearts. Dazzling dance or soulful songs – which was best? Both were divine. I couldn't even test And on the other side, I heard people's emotional pleas, Indeed some returned with glee. While others practiced war, with scratching swords loud and clear. Trumpets of grand war elephants bold Whinnies of harsh horses of cavalry echoed Their mighty roars, Tore the sheets of clouds Beautiful princesses shone, in attire so bright, Vedic scholars chanted vedas with voices so light. Was I dreaming? No, I was inside a palace!!! The place where the Kings roared, The place where the Queens roamed, The place where the princesses played. The place where the swords swayed, The place where the princes nourished The place where the arts flourished. Yes, I was at the Thanjavur Maratha place. A glimpse of the above visuals opened like a curtain before my eyes, instantly when I stepped into the palace. The breeze over there whispered secrets of stories untold, Only a few can hear the tales of old
