Painted Memories

 She painted her memories
 in images surreal
Trying to hide scars reality would reveal
 A band-aid of illusions
 To alleviate the pain,
 Some memories are traumatic
 with wounds that wont heal
She tries holding back the tears
but the pain she can't conceal
 As she paints memories
 in images surreal

I had never considered, until reading your poem, how therapeutic it must be for some who can paint their pain... or paint over it. Definitely one that made my figurative wheels spin; and made me wish I could paint. Hello Joseph :)

This hits so strong dear joseph, some wounds remain and scars some try to paint with surreal images. How profound and soulful is this. For some reason this resonated with me deeply! Pleasure always reading your work. Sending you light

It's almost like one of those mirror poems where it repeats the same idea as the poem goes from center to the end. COOL poem.

Facing life is difficult as this poem shows. It is good that the brain has safety mechanisms, such your poem illustrates. I do like it.

I can almost picture her in a sombre atmosphere, painting sad scene of her gone lover. Loved your imagery.

' A band-aid of illusions. ' Many hide the pain in this way. Your thoughts are tender and emotional, all at the same time. My best to you, Joseph. Hugs, Brandy

incredibly descriptive about her suffering: Attempting to conceal wounds that the truth would expose A facade of deceit So perhaps it would hurt less—Beautifully depicts the pain of remembering the past.

Oh this is very nice and such a poetic way to express this feeling. Was this for a specific contest, Joseph.
