Painful Grace
Your colorful skin
Has been stripped from its bones
Thrown, shriveled, into a heap
Onto a hospital bed
Plugged into the wall
Toxins flushed throughout your body
Eating the smile off your face
Watching you go to war
For one more breath
One last glimpse
Looking into your pale eyes
I see a stranger’s helpless body
Forcing short breaths
Take mine away
A twisted flicker of peace
Dances across your face
With one last calm breath
You withdraw
Soul released
An unfinished symphony?Consumed with grief ?Sorrow has arrived? With smiles thief
