Pain Needs Expression

I know I shouldn’t care
what they say or think
maybe I’ll wear black today
make no eye contact
bound by our family tree
no warm and fuzzy place
where every sad song is talking to me
telling me I am a mess
urging me to confess
the same broken record is playing
though I shed not a tear
I strive to disappear
pain needs expression
red slowly seeps
I cut
my hollowed soul aches
for I am nothing special
I have to stop
swallowing hard
I draw the sharp edge deeper
trying to reach my broken heart
