Pain

It gnaws at me
Like a hungry rat.
Its cutting teeth
Stabbing.
Invasive claws
Digging,
Probing,
Pulling,
Tearing me apart
Sinew by sinew.
While I its victim
Lie helpless
On a bed
Of sweat and tears
Silent screams
In my mind.
I feel it
Creep over me,
Its hot breath
Exploring
Mercilessly,
Anticipating,
Ready to devour.....
And I am
Swallowed up
In its intensity.

I could feel every bit of the pain in this poem. You have expressed it extremely well. Robert Davidson.

Your poem the incarnation of pain: So true, so vivid, so devastating! Only those who have felt it could ever understand its intensity and agony it causes! A fav for me dear Sylvia!
