Pages of Life

I kissed the rain and it flitted
         away
like a precocious teenage tryst

~when wet lips taunted
the shivering dew on a morning rose.

but, roses were always too mature,
     for adolescent whims and
too sophisticated to be genuine,
and way too honest to embrace
     pledges of forever...

After many years we open to a page
where a crimson flower was pressed
     and wonder why
its fragile existence was ~ saved?

Ah..Something about the way this poem emanates nostalgia, in a reflective manner as well as how it flows with so many memories and theres a touch of fragility that really stirs the soul. I felt something deep reading this poem, especially with lines "but, roses were always too mature, for adolescent whims and too sophisticated to be genuine, and way too honest to embrace pledges of forever..." the depth of those lines! Truly stand out craigsz! Pleasure reading! Congratulations on ur win. Thank you for supporting my contest. Sending you light always.
