Owned By a Dog

If you have never been owned by a dog,
you maybe do not know this, but there
is no one more wiggly and giggly and in
your lap faster than a dog

You can push her away, and scold her,
spray water all over her, and she will
joyously jump all over you, rubbing her
buttocks and fur in every pore of your
being no matter what you do to dissuade
her.

She will puppy pile you, until you know
that you have been puppy-piled. Nothing
better in the whole world until you get a
grandchild. But they do not replace a
dog, because their selfish parents insist
on taking them home.

I am laughing at your delightful ending to this poem Caren. The other day when my granddaughter asked to stay over with me another day...my daughter said to me, she's my baby and I miss her! I loved your description of how forgiving a dog is...so true. I have to fave this darling poem! Hugs, Connie : ) xxoo

It is embarrassing how my dog wants to wear me even when I have been particularly nasty.

Dog - and God - no accident they are spelled with exactly the same letters.
