Owl and the Mouse

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ the light of life shines each day... some hope... owls use darkness... if the needs must... inclement weather spoils most hunts... all owls... dependent on their hearing... most prey... pray for torrents... sat on their haunches... holding food... eating... or are they praying... the owl cares not... strikes... harsh... fleeting moment...done is their craving... you understand rain... sustains all life... the sunlight... can mean death by drought the owl... not liking either... the mouse forsooth... no respite... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Congrats for your win, Mick. All around us in nature these little battles are taking place (and sadly, on the human side too)
Thanks, Andrea! Oh yes, survival of the fittest forever ongoing. As for us, well not as in you and me, but in general the human race has lost the plot! Thanks again, Mick
Thanks Kim! And don't forget your UV blocker, mind you, I think we've had our summer, skipped fall, and back into winter again, brrr, its cold outside. Mick
Thanks, BW, always an honour to achieve a placement. Nature, cruel, not how I look at it, in fact, there is one form of life on this planet that's is sadly us humans. However, I do understand. '-) Mick
Interesting write Mick, it makes you wonder if perhaps the mouse has associated rain with safety. Made me think.
Thanks James, Glad you found it interesting. I am sure they have, it's a question of needs must as well. Indeed, as you are probably aware being so small and hyperactive they need to eat a high percentage of their body weight to survive. My experience whilst observing them is whenever they come out into the open, right on the edge, they scan 360° before they take the plunge. It's uncanny when you realise they're using three senses simultaneously, not counting whiskering.
