Notes About The Poem

Overly Particular Judges

Those overly particular judges
Give me a halt when I see their contests
Asking to write what I feel
In hard form plus a kyrielle
I better go and take my long bed rests.

At first, I did once, spending my whole night
Started from the topic I needed to write
Half of pantoum, I dozed off
Felt like floated with the roof
My poem was posted after a week, fight!

All entries were judged after some few months
My poem moved to next page, new poems in front
Mine wasn’t found on the list
After passing judges’ wrist
Whose strictness lied on perfect rhymes and fonts.

Those overly particular judges
Give me a halt when I see their contests
Asking to write what I feel
In hard form plus a kyrielle
I better go and take my long bed rests.

Contemplating all the different poetic structures and forms from kyrielle to pantoum (and beyond) sends me to my headache pills. A superb write, Len. I need more than rest after reading contest rules. Simplicity of instruction is my poetic push. Be well. Brian

I love the pondering of the various forms and “ I better go and take my long bed rests.” Spending my whole night, dozed off, floated on the roof… a lot of humor here! Enjoyed this one, Len!

Dear len your rhymes are brilliant and flows so well, i can imagine sometimes contests can be hard to do, i got it so wrong in the beginning when i first started doing contests here, i didnt realize there were different rules for different contests, however i think the most ridiculous rules you would find on instagram, on some contests, ah but im not sure if i can write about instagram contests for this, youv expressed very well. I find, sestinas the most hardest to do, and iv only done one. BOL

This is a fiction: Never had a rule of 1 difficult poem plus a kyrielle. Example a pantaoum followed by kyrielle or villanelle followed by kyrielle. Usually mixed form and I've never seen judges so strict on fonts. At the same time no judges had also released a result for that length of time like after 100 poems had been written by a poet. I only wrote this poem for fun.
