Overcome


Electric roots in my tooth, sending a shock, 
through my whole body system,
Electric roots in my tooth, sending a shock, 
through my whole body system,
Electric roots in my tooth, sending the truth, 
through my whole body system,
I guess that’s what they call, the fight from within.


Like Jah said unto us, from up above, you must overcome,
Like Jah said unto us, from up above, you must overcome,
Like Jah said unto us, from up above, you must overcome,
In this endless, complicated, struggle.


For nothing comes easy and life is hard,
You can’t get all you want, if you don’t put in the effort.
People will oppress you, to stop you doing what you want,
But this is the reason, you’ve got to try harder to get it.


Then we shall overcome, 
Yes we shall overcome.


Rebel against the man, if he’s bringing you down,
Don’t worry about the police, acting the clowns.
For they shall never stop us, reaching our dizzy heights,
They shall never put an end to our fight.
For this is our fight from within,
And this is a fight we can win
And this is a fight we shall win.


For we shall overcome, anyone who stands in our way now;
We shall overcome, anybody who oppresses us today now
And we shall overcome.


So remember my brothers and sisters, the fight is yours,
Only we ourselves, are able to overcome;
The oppression and depression, forced onto us,
By the man with the power controlling our world.


But we shall overcome, yes we shall overcome now;
For our battle is not yet won, so we shall overcome.


So rebel against the system, if it’s bringing you down,
Rebel against yourself, if you’re hurting yourself now.
Rebel against anybody who gets in your way,
For freedom is ours to reach for and we shall have it today;
For we have overcome,
Yes we have overcome.
