Over a Shoulder
Over a shoulder
A past life follows in my footsteps
Stretching so far back
That time seems never ending,
A decoupage of all that was.
Overlapping memories
Faded and frayed
That mean everything
And nothing.
The shadow is getting shorter
As life moves on,
Day by lonely day,
A cacophony of sights,
Sounds,
Sins, sinners,
Love and hate
Confuse a once clear mind.
Memories
Coming from nowhere
Fill each waking hour
And sleepless night
Where dreams are lost in the mists of time
And the purpose of life,
The reason for living,
Hides it's lonely face.
