Outside My Window
Outside my window I see folks moving along in life, some faster than others, some looking forward, some looking back, some heads held high, some hanging low.
An old man waiting on his wife, an old woman trying to catch up with her husband who went on ahead. Two young lovers arm in arm without a care in the world. An angry woman ignoring a dejected man. A strong man with his family on his shoulders and a tired woman with all her children clinging to her.
Healthy people and some not so. A laughing little boy chasing a screaming little girl. Two lovers still holding hands after sixty years and grown children forgetting to look back for their parents.
Some are trying to carry their worldly possessions, some are barely clothed. Some are fat and some are skin and bones. Some rich, some poor, some are running strong and some have stopped.
Some are confident and some are scared. Some are alone and others are in groups. Some are on a mission and some are lost. Some are happy, some sad and some are angry.
A man and wife with hate in their eyes. Some take one step forward and two steps back. Some rush by so fast they fail to see anything on their journey. Some are leaders and others are followers.
Fathers and mothers walking too fast for their children, some children running away from their parents. Some can’t be ignored and some are invisible. Some are very noisy as they pass and some can’t make a whimper.
And if you look closely you’ll see a few with their eyes fixed on Heaven, happy knowing where they are going and where their journey will end. What will I see when you pass by my window?
