Outbreak, The

Midway twenty twenty,
we are keeping a fair distance,
We somehow went back to nineteen eighteen
on paper-boat with supersonic speed,
A virus showed again up
From Northern hemisphere
and went viral, an outbreak, now a pandemic!

We stay at home to beat it.
We have been holed-up in our closets,
It's been like three weeks, then an extra two,
We are far from each other
Awaiting good news, the breaking
of the curse on the world,
a world witnessing culling!

Four months gone,
We are still keeping our eyes open,
Covering our mouths and noses;
When you cover your mouth
you can't eat for real.
Now we are on lockdown,
No food, no money to buy food
and no where to buy food,
We are all hungry and starving,
No one is taking note.

We heard in the news,
Monies meant for the masses got burnt!
The Federal Government is keeping mute,
The Minister of Finance burnt down her office
in a bid to roast Easter chicken
for her immediate family, what a shame!

We are staying in the picture,
a miniature one this time
Yet, we are keeping a fair distance,
The Federal Government is a secret society!
We are missing in the big league
We are missing in action,
We are keeping our distance,
We can't touch each other anymore,
We can't hug, we can't kiss,
Markets are closed, the roads blocked,
churches and mosques lie desolate!

This is an evolutionary war,
We stay at home or be the carrier
transporting the enemy bullets
infecting and killing our loved ones,
Spreading death even to ourselves!
