Notes About The Poem

Out Gunned

Being a retired military man Who served four years in Vietnam I never saw anyone charge a machine gun nest With only a 45 or 9 mm pistol at best School boards better get some smarts Or start passing out Purple Hearts Pistols are a 30 to 40 foot range gun Standing up to an AK-47 or AR-15 won't be fun When bullets start flying by their head Fear will take over and they will be dead Give them a grenade, mortar, or law rocket But you can’t hide them in your pocket Teachers are smart and know they’re out gunned The only chance they have is to run Maybe arm the teachers with AR-15s Then see what the body count is in-between You don’t need more bullets flying around That leaves more students dead on the ground If you want to listen to the President or NRA I pray that it’s not your child that has to pay 3/13/2018

That is very strong and convincing. The 'solutions' some politicians come up are mind bogglingly stupid and bear out no logic. The next thing proposed will be to arm Ambulance Crews and Clergymen, Imams and Rabbis. Buddhists sitting under a fig tree could then hold a rocket propelled launcher. What about METAPHORICAl suicide belts for politicians?

You speak with sense, Eve & Sonny. The more bullets fly, the more victims there will be. ~ Regards // paul

Eve - I was floored at your gun intelligence until I saw it was a collaboration. Boy does it shoot straight and on target, sharply so. Anyone who thinks teachers should have guns doesn't remember what school is meant to be like, or that teachers aren't above mental illness and other dysfunction-triggers. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Yes, you both wrote a powerful poem here.. You are right in regards to the last two lines.. I would like to see how the NRA would feel if it was their children shot at school.. Or do they even care about that?

Hello Silent One, someone must take up a stand. It seems that the only ones with the courage or the students. If it was the adults the police would be gasing, whipping, or shooting the adults ..

A powerful thought provoking verse Eve, I dont fully understand how your law works with regards to guns but seen TV programs over here where you just go in with a drivers license and get enough to equip a small army ,no questions asked .Something need to be done, its becoming such a common thing and the law needs to change. Brilliant collaboration. Tom.

Thank you Tom, the NRA have the public afraid that they will be taking all their rights.. They just don't want to lose their mighty dollar.. Like someone said their guns are more important to them then their children. :( Every time I listen to what is going my temper rises ... Today a group of young black man standing up for their protection because the gangs are taking over and drive-bys or killing innocent.. something needs to be done and not afraid from the bullies ...and our President is the biggest bully...

Amen, Eve. A catch 22 situation, ugly and fearful. A fine commentary. Viv x
