Out From the Ashes

Poet: Ken Jordan Poem: Out From The Ashes Edited by: Sparkle Jordan written: November/2015 A lone Holly Berry bush - In a land of carnivorous weeds; Is a jewel. A Holly Berry bush - Just One, rooted deep in the ground - One, unfazed by the low conditions, where it lives - Just One bush, stands so admirably visible, amid the over populated, Jungle of menacing black weeds - One bush, Just one, grows victoriously, to escape the bad lands of it's home - yes, one bush that got away. One, Just One (lone) Holly Berry bush, So undeniably beautiful;.... It's Orange/Red berries, showing like a Rembrandt painting, upon It's Dark/Green leaves, soar's above a Ghetto," of weeds. One Holly Berry bush, stands strong (c). copyright 2015, Ken Jordan, all rights reserved.

Thank you Donna, I appreciate your support. This poem is based on the horrible conditions on the south side of Chicago, where my wife grew up. She survived and left it behind, she's the one that got away. All the best to you, Ken
