Our Secret Space

A low fog lingers on the ground On cobbled streets where coaches sound, Candles dance inside the glass Of lanterns as the moment's pass. Terraced houses reach the sky Chimneys smoke and Zeppelins fly, Merchant's barter trade and speak Tophats flood the puddled streets. Factory lanes and iron stairs Workers breathe a muddled air, Ships of cargo stay the night As silent waves reflect the light's. There is a private secret space For such as us inside this place, You take the road beyond the docks Where couples sit and skim the rocks. Carry on beyond the square Where pipe tobacco burns the air, Cross the road and take the lane Beneath the clock you turn again. You'll see an arch beyond the street Take your time and pass beneath, Pass the lanterns - count too two, You'll find a shop homes into view. Outside you'll see a sign that swings 'The Antique Shop and Finer Thing's, Inside this shop is lots of wares We built ourselves and hid for year's. Upon display on varnished shelves The memories forged from travels delved, The hidden gem inside this store Awaits upstairs and can't be bought. It all resides behind a door One golden valve unlocks the core, Inside the room is where we lay Inside two minds forever safe. A cosy room that can't be seen It's built in hearts and lives in dreams, It's drawn in books and wrote in poems And only us will know this home. I built this from the day we met And every day I tried my best, To take these thoughts and make them real We made this place by how we FEEL. Our secret space.
