Our Neighbor the Nuclear Plant
Our Neighbor, the Nuclear Plant
By Elton Camp
It’s been there for a good many years now
But I never gave it much thought somehow
I knew some, nuclear plants do fear and hate
But it has provided us power at a cheap rate
A major factor that helped me to feel at ease
Is the success enjoyed with it by the Japanese
If on those tiny islands smart folks feel okay,
Then any possible fears it really helped to allay
But the terrible experiences they had here of late
How brought up good reasons safety to debate
Experts say that Japan’s fate couldn’t happen here
But whether or not it’s so, I am beginning to fear
With much danger it seems to me that it is fraught
It was built far too close to the New Madrid Fault
I hope that Alabama’s not the next one on the list
And that with our scary neighbor we can co-exist
