Our Memories
We have so many memories,
Of those we hold dear,
They make us laugh,
And occasionally shed a tear.
Maybe we were their shadow,
We followed them everywhere,
They never said it bothered them,
We did it because we care.
Anything can trigger a memory,
A phrase, a song or place,
Perhaps, the scent of pipe smoke,
Can put a smile on our face.
Maybe it’s something we buy,
Special toffee or some socks,
It’s times like these,
We wish we could turn back our clocks.
The memories of our loved ones,
Are locked within our hearts,
We pass them onto our children,
So, they can make a head start.
We hold onto those memories,
We think about them every day,
That way our loved ones,
Are never far away.
