Our Matriarch

Our Matriarch She led our family for so many years, building our worth and wiping away all our tears.. She always spoke her mind and the herd they all knew, she won't candy coat it but her words will be true.. With Love and laughter streaming from every pour. She would light up a room when she walked through the door.. We knew our Matriarch was special, any elephant could see. That our herd was the happiest any herd could be.. We walked to the water hole single file that day. And our matriarch fell as she was leading the way.. Every elephant stopped, their trunks dragging the ground. Beneath all their tusks the whole herd wore a frown.. What are we to do a young bull cried aloud. A hush it came over the whole elephant crowd.. An old elephant stood up and said, we all know what to do. She not only led us, she taught us all too.. She taught us to Love, and her laugh I still hear. She showed us to see the world oh so clear.. Her sense of humor rings through the herd like a bell. Just think of her often and let your heart swell.. After feeling these words, the herd knew they'd get by. They seemed to see Mom's smile in every elephants eye.. So the herd all moved on, with their trunks held high as the heavens. Knowing their hearts, will always be filled with Moms presents..
