Our Little Ones Are Waiting

To volunteer is one of the nicest things you can do for yourself.
If you think it is more of a help to another than your own dear heart, then you
Have not been volunteering at the right places.

Day care centers are always needing people with laps to hold babies, read to babies, play with babies,
Sing to babies, laugh with babies. It is perhaps the best job in the world and your payment is so
			Much better than mere money.

Churches and schools are always needing help proofreading, typing, printing, copying, organizing, and
If you have spare time to teach children who are struggling way behind the others to
Learn their abcs or to read easy books,
You will return home so much better
Than you found your heart this morning.

I caution you not to get upset that you have to pay fifty dollars to be fingerprinted and wait six weeks and spend heart-nurturing time with little ones. This is to keep everyone safe.

There was a time when we did not realize we
			Needed these safeguards,
We probably did, but we did not realize.

If you have love in your heart, an empty lap, a love for children, and you know
How to read, please consider one of these volunteer opportunities.

			Our little ones are waiting.
