Our Life

On a blustery sunny Thursday In December of fifty-four We stood before a preacher To pledge our love forever more We didn't have a tux or gown A suit and dress were worn A nervous bride and groom they were On that cold December morn She lovely as an angel stood He, facing her with love In hopes the union of these two Were blessed by God above They then recited all their vows Till death should do us part And with a kiss they sealed their love With a fullness in their hearts She is my bright and shining star Sent to me from above And till the very end of days Will be my own true love This love we've shared for many years Through good times and thru strife And both remained so much in love As husband and as wife You'll see them with each other Just walking side by side The love light shining in their eyes Reflects the husband and his bride Should God decide just one should go Before the other's time My fervent prayer would be to Him The life you take be mine Wrapped up in memories so sweet It could be called divine What makes the memories so neat? They'll pass the test of time I wouldn't want to stay this earth Without my lovely wife There'd be no joy, no happiness An empty shell of life Should I be first, and she remain I'll wait upon a cloud And whisper to the changing winds In voice so strong and loud Here comes my wife I've waited for Her red hair streaked with grey And hand in hand we'd walk once more Forever and a day!
