Our Lady

The sun had risen atop a flawless sky,
The morning we heard Our Lady cry.

She stood as always proud and tall,
As she watched her beloved towers fall.

Our eagle hovered as time stood still,
The morning God tested our will.

Frightened friends fled through the mire,
As they stared above at our twins on fire.

Families watched from miles away,
Praying their loved ones would be okay.

As the last wall dropped and smoke filled the air,
We all watched in horror as they tried to.repair....
our city on high, our country now low...
the recovery will be painful and slow.

Almost a year past...so many were lost
The war will be won, whatever the cost.

As Our Lady still stands, our eagle still soars,
And our beautiful city reopens her doors.
