Our History Tells Us How We Should Speak

Our history talks of foul deeds. Desperate men and women facing the burning fields. Where escape can’t happen because each step they’d take would turn on them, a life stripped so bare, no excuses mate! Our history tells of injustices true. Where people died for nothing, people like me and you. Imagine all the walls of your world closing in. All the eyes condemning your soul for someone else’s sin. Our history speaks of courageous honour. People prepared to die so we would could live a free life, see the sun set sky, relaxing in fields that don’t burn, where we don’t have to run for cover! Our history lives in each and every tear cried over every innocent cheek, living in such pain of fear. Where yes, the world it spins taking with it all the broken dreams. We now may live in desperate times. With fascism knocking on our door, a coldness growing in our eyes. I don’t believe in them, but I believe in you. If you ever find yourself with your finger on the trigger, you’ll know the right thing to do.
