Our First Tv

Dad bought our first TV in nineteen fifty-two We were the envy of all *****sapiens Only two channels, one english and one french To us it was all very alien We were the envy of a very large neighbourhood Invited people to view this phenomenon With mouths agape, they sat there stunned We felt happy with great aplomb We were first on the block and I felt oh so proud My dad wasn't a very rich man But couldn't resist this astounding invention Gotta tell ya, I was his biggest fan Well of course, all these many decades later Each household owns at least one But when dad brought home that first TV It was a prelude of what was to come © Jack Ellison 2013

Taking all us aged ones back in time... Darn, now my hair seems to look just a little bit whiter as I recall my favorite childhood pizza place and watching silent movies in black & white. (Shakey's Pizza) I'll never forget their stained glass doors, penny fed horse ride and Charlie Chaplin :-)

And alas you never looked back, you always had one ever since then! The first TV that I remember was one that had twelve numbered buttons on the front panel, you pressed one it changed to that channel and it lit up the button! You had to push in this other 'button' that brought out a cylinder at which turned the TV on or off and allowed for rotation of the cylinder to turn up and down the volume! I will never forget this first TV of mine! This is a lovely poem about your first TV! Great Work!!

With our first TV we watched the Mickey Mouse Club. As the first color TV came, we all went to watch Star Trek down the block.. The color mezerized us! Now I sit at my computer, and the kids their XBox's! Dragon likes the XBox... He Tries to save the Dragon's attacking the city... He says some of them might be his friends and family! As long as it stays on the XBox! Heaven forbid otherwise! He says Honestly! Don't worry! Everyone takes sides! and no one gets hurt! So GO team DRAGONS and Sons!
