Our Diary

Our Diary begins

With Adam and Eve

The forbidden fruit

From the Forbidden Tree

We bare child birth

Most times with pain

Bringing life into this world

Nurturing the brain

We are mothers

Sisters

Friends

From beginning to end

We are strong

We are weak

We are quick

We are sleek

We can hold down the fort

While working a 9-5

Raising our babies

Stretching nickels and dimes

We hold our heads high

We hold our heads low

Holding it all in

Letting it all go

We can be vulnerable

Fall for foolish things

We can be head-strong

When we mean what we mean

We carry heavy burdens

We can carry light loads

We have so much pride

And most times it shows

We come from greatness

We come from despair

We can overcome

Even when things aren’t fair

Our minds are bright

Some are dim

Broken hearts

Hurting within

We can communicate effectively

Trying to get others to listen

Sometimes it works

Other times we fall victim

Women of color

Women of all races

Hold your heads high

With glorious faces

Say to yourself

“I have love for me”

Our stories are amazing

And this is Our Diary
