Our Confused Friendship

I used to have a friend so dear,
We laughed and talked, without any fear.
But now she's changed, so different from before,
I'm left wondering what happened, what for?

I try to reach out, to bridge the gap,
But she keeps her distance, and I feel trapped.
She says it's for my sake, but I'm not so sure,
Is it something I did, that made her unsure?

I miss her smile, her cheerful laugh,
But now she's quiet, it's like walking on glass.
Maybe she's hurt by something I've said or done,
But I don't know what, I wish I could just run.

I can't force her to stay, or turn her back on me,
But I'm uncomfortable with this change, can't she see?
She's confused, she says, but she's getting me mixed,
I don't know if we're losing each other, or just getting nixed.

I hope one day we can talk and make it right,
And bring back the friendship that shone so bright.
But until then, I'll keep trying to understand,
Why people change without warning, and slip through our hands.

Thank you for your kind words and healing thoughts. Friendship is such a precious thing, and it's always difficult when there's a rift or distance between friends. I appreciate your empathy and understanding.
