Our Burden

The time we spent together Is but a frozen moment in memory Of the two of us . . . Alone . . . . . . Unseen . . . But by God. No one knows what joys, What ecstasies, we felt As we traced the sadness down . . . And left it By the path . . . Forgotten . . . Until the morning rays of light revealed, In each of us, The emptiness of that drifting moment, . . . Already gone . . . And we found the sadness We’d put down, To carry it once more . . . A greater burden . . .

Beautifully written. Read the poem three times and could the the painful "blood flow of memory".
