Our Amazing Heart
If I did not know otherwise, awareness about my heart would be limited to the physical organ in the upper left
side of my body. I am acutely aware that there are mega functions at work right here in my heart.
I am convinced that those activities are not all physical.
Perhaps the world of science has just begun to unfold
new revelations about the vastness of the human heart.
Though we are less inclined to listen to words spoken from there,
heaven has always known such facts and faithfully told us so.
There is much more going on in our hearts than pumping blood.
Now, it appears that there is some type of brain activity right
here in my heart. Our thoughts may not be originating
exclusively in the brain. Oh, the wonder of it all! Oh,
how absolutely amazing! And Oh, how incredible the reality of the
ability to do a myriad of things right here in my heart. With a look, says Jesus, adultery is committed right here in my heart.* With
my heart, says the Bible, I can think one way and act another. With my heart,
says the Scriptures, I believe; and with my mouth, I confess. The creator of
the heart says that the heart is deceitful above all and desperately wicked;
who can know it? Just imagine; a total stranger, right here in my heart.
Blessed are the pure in heart, says Jesus, in the Sermon on the Mount. Oh, how delightful! There is hope for us, right here in our hearts.
