I saw it once as it was
And today as it is
But never as it ought to be
I knew her once as she was
And today as she is
Like I’ve never known her to be
So we were once as we were
And today I’m not too sure
If it’s true we ought to be
So here we are just for once
For today or maybe months
Perhaps we should wait and see
