Osprey
I ventured out one day to bird watch in the woods
I saw a new path to take near the tree where I stood
I walked for several miles and could smell fragrant flowers
Not sure how far I have gone but I’ve walked for hours
I could smell forest moss and hear faint sounds of running water
I followed the sounds hoping to see a blue heron or even some otters
I walked a few more miles and stopped when I saw a great white egret
It’s always rewarding to walk for miles to see these birds, no regrets
I followed the egret until I came upon a beautiful cascading waterfall
I then saw a quick glimpse of a rare osprey, and heard his shrill calls
I sat by the water taking in the beauty, it was very beautiful, picturesque
To my delight, I then spotted the osprey above the waterfall in his huge nest
