Notes About The Poem

Orange Moon

Shards of glass embedded in sand,
Stains of red wine fade in rising tides,
Blisters irritated by a biting breeze.

Tears to salt the wound in this cursed ocean,
The tides grow more violent,
On this freezing night, the Orange Moon roars with fire.

My eyes can never again reflect freedom,
This prison is a tomb, an oasis turned mirage,
I must keep pouring, every cup will remain empty.

I won’t forgive, I will never forgive.

Drip, drip, drip,
red, white, rosé,
everything fades in the orange spotlight.

It’s time you see, this great marquee—
Is the only place you’re ever going to be,
Now do me a favor, and die.

Choke on this wretched sand,
let the glass bleed you dry,
until the moonlight leaves your eyes.

Love in a bottle, a night in orange spotlights,
The rising tide devours,
and the Moon will forever haunt you.
