Opposites
OPPOSITES
In the bad dawn of winter dull,
When the light has lost
Its last battle at heavy cost
To pall the invading rays,
And the night begins afresh to pull
Down the insufferable blackness,
My eyes find your closeness
And rest peaceful in your gaze:
Yesterday’s frost lingers full,
But grey cold’s grip is spent;
Fingers of warm sun have lent
Life to brighter longer days.
