Opportunity

I never asked much
of this world
only an opportunity
a chance
That’s all
Nothing big
Simply something small
A crack that I
could crawl through
A few bits of string
to weave as birds do
when they build their nest
into a rope to climb
out of the darkness
of this cold barren crater
into which I was born
From there I could
do the rest
