Opening Day Blues

Here in this ballpark, it is the early April spring. The local boys take the field to do their thing. A sellout crowd was on hand to cheer the team. The team had plenty of support, it would seem. Our boys came up short with the score today, but there are many more games left to play. Whenever the team loses, it is a shame. Please remember, it was only the first game. There is one great big fact everyone should know, there’s a hundred and sixty-one games to go.

Ah, a fellow baseball lover. I am once again enthralled with my team as we begin the race to the end of those one hundred and sixty two games. It all comes so very quickly though. I appreciated the comment on my poem, The Boys of Summer. It remains one of my personal favorites. Don't you just love those boys of summer ;)

for all my poems, I always found it hard to rhyme, just down right annoying. I felt that free verse is so liberating, that I can just write and let the diction flow. But I think i've overcomplicated rhyme, made it a pitfall I must avoid. You kept it simple, neat, and a pleasure to read. Well written, and well done

Whooo, 161 more to go?? Thank heavens my son didn't have that many when he was a kid. That was a real joy in my life to see him catcher for a few years! Cute poem.
