Open the Gift

Among the joys of Christmas morn
are gifts revealed from wrappers torn.
A gift that’s left unopened will
remain to all, a secret still.

Each one is given goodly gifts
to use with gratitude and thrift.
But sadly, many lives are wrecked
because one gift, they all reject.

The baby born on Christmas morn
was God’s best gift with love adorned.
To our race estranged by sin
God sent His gift, our hearts to win.

God’s gift remains unopened still
by stubborn hearts and wayward wills.
As you, through all your presents sift,
I pray you will open God’s gift.
