Open and Spent

quiet as you all lay down
the boogieman comes without a sound
stealing into your open sleep
ready to eat your little soul without a peep
i hear him through my one open eye
i see him with my tightly shut ears
to gobble me up inside
using my darkest fears
the Ijerraq knows when I will die
because him peered through my one open eye
softly he came and out i went
through deaths door
my life cold and spent
