Only Me

If I had to write a poem,

For only one person to see.

I could have it ready by Friday.

It could be sent as a letter.

They would be waiting patiently.

Or maybe not at all, it could be a surprise!

To my friend:

A birthday poem for you.

A smiling poem for you and for you only.

A call, a text and no response.

Her new address eludes me.

She never did respond.

If I had to write a poem,

For no one to see.

It would be heartfelt.

My tears only for me.
