Only God Knows
Even when our voices clash,
When we withhold our hands from kindness,
When our tongues speak in riddles, stirring strife,
When we quarrel as if we own the gift of life,
Still, only God knows.
Even when we strike each other in anger,
Even when we hold a helping hand,
Even when we stand alone, trying to seek the meaning of life,
Even when we try to search for truth in the mystery of death ,
The days of the living are counted,
Only God knows.
Even when we argue and disagree,
Even when we curse each other in secret thoughts,
Even when we pray and forgive,
Even when we swear oaths, love, and trust again,
Through joy and sorrow, in trust we remain,
For death was decreed since ancient days,
The days of the living are counted,
Only the Creator knows.
He who has rested, let him rest,
He who has rested, clap your hands for he has conquered,
Freed at last from the burdens of this world,
So why do you weep when he no longer suffers?
The Creator made the path to call his soul.
Why then does this wailing weigh me down?
Let not your hearts be troubled,
For the Father’s house has many rooms.
