Only By Chance

It was only by chance, that I happened to glance
As a shooting star crossed the night,
I watched it pass, in a luminous flash,
Much to my earthbound delight.

In vivid green hues, it decided to choose
A night when I raised my eyes,
This heavenly display, that by luck came my way
Filled me with joy and surprise.

A wondrous thing, this traveller far,
And delighted I to be here,
To witness it's light, a God given sight,
As it sped through the earths atmosphere.
