Congrats on your onion piece, Andrea, most interesting. My personal favorite is the onion ring. You covered all the bases but the artistic one, the volcano often built by Japanese teppanyaki chefs in their "performance" cooking.

Please forgive where the rhyming took me. I am not violent and if I ever did something like that it would be something I would forever be ashamed of.

An ode to an onion exclaims pro's and cons. They enhance cooking meats and add flavor to fonds. But kiss me right after you've eaten one raw. I very well may hit you right in the jaw.

What a big coincidence, I just bought a whole bag of sweet onions, I was in Hawaii once, you will never taste such sweet  onions as there
