ONE YEAR OF LOVE TO COUNT

To My Timothy Lee
One year Of love to count, though paramount, Is not much time for this fine love, Yours, ours and mine; One year Sleeping in peace, breathing in ease, Sharing our cheer, soothing our grief, Blissful relief; One year Is not a lot of time to chart The heart I sought to give my heart That your heart caught; One year Counting the days, listing the joys, Naming the ways our love does show, Our bond does grow; One year Joy does implore I ask for more Of you my dear, another year Of love so clear.

Ah ha! This genre is a type that folks will feel is easy but is definitely not. It takes real skill to convey meaning and feeling in such short phrases and word count. This does both and you carved it out of precious marbles with such artistry. I see you are brave enough to enter contests. I'm not very competitive & would take a lot of goading to get me to try. This was a lovely celebration to an anniversary of love. VERY GOOD! Loving your new writes! Hugs! -Edlynn

Edlynn - What a sweet, sweet, comment - so very uplifting. I did keep a strict 4 syllable count with the exception of the first line of each stanza and it was a fun challenge. Thank you so much for reading and commenting ... CayCay

I see various possibilities in this Anacreontic Verse, CayCay. The author is allowed freedom where to roam. Must try it! // Your poem skips along fluently, enjoying and relishing the blissful bond between two people in love. ~ Regards // paul

Have you read the contest? Upbeat on love, holiday, festivity, etc. and only 3 to 5 syll. lines, so it was a fun challenge. 'Tis good you felt the 'bond' touch - I'm very glad to know it. Thank you, dear heart ... CayCay
